School Leaders Hope Election Signifies Coming Change to School Funding System

Just over half of the school levies on the ballot in Ohio passed this election season. Despite that, most school leaders say school funding is still a problem. In Akron, students, teachers, and administrators are celebrating the passage of Issue 6 on Tuesday's ballot. But district leaders say Ohio needs a longer-term fix. Some are optimistic that nearly a decade after the first DeRolph decision by the Ohio Supreme Court " there may now be momentum to move away from local property taxes.
