There is an airport in northeast Ohio with a modern concourse, ticket counters, gates and jet-ways where nobody has taken a regularly scheduled airline flight since 2003.  That’s the last time Youngstown-Warren Regional airport had daily passenger service. After 19 months of vetting, the U.S. Department of Transportation has granted Aerodynamics Incorporated a Certificate for Interstate Air Transportation; saying the airline is “fit, willing and able to offer the daily round-trip flights from Youngstown-Warren.”

Airport aviation director Dan Dickten says efforts are underway to get the passenger service in place as soon as possible.

“The airline is working on inter-line agreements with American, United and Delta airlines so there may be connecting service at Chicago O’Hare. And, we very much need that. It’s not just flights to Chicago.  Its flights to anywhere in the world, both domestic and international…through Chicago.”

Dickten says they hope to start flying to Chicago as early as April.
